All-State Band Audition Information
Hello to the entire RHHS Band Program! I feel out of touch with the students that I am not working with this semester, so I am happy to address all of you with this email.
Any student who is enrolled in a Band class this fall and/or this spring is eligible to audition for the Maryland All-State Band. It is important to note, however, that there will be no All-State Band this year. So...why would you want to take this audition? There are three possible reasons:
1. To positiviely affect your eligibility for All-East Band and All-National Band in future years,
2. To include the honor on your resume', and
3. Just to see how you "stack up" to others in the state.
I know that, for some of you, this will seem like a waste of time and money (there is a $13 fee to take the audition), while for others it may be a very important part of your year. Obviously I will support you either way - I have no expectations of you as individuals, nor do I feel that participation (or lack thereof) will reflect on the River Hill Bands in any way. As most of you know, the Junior All-State Band includes students in grades 7, 8 and 9, and the Senior All-State Band includes students in grades 10, 11, and 12.
If you are at all interested in learing about the virtual audition process, please visit https://www.mmea-maryland.org/all-state-auditions-handbook to see the All-State Audition Handbook. It explains things pretty well, but if you have questions after reading it, you can certainly let me know.
Musically,
Mr. B.
