Make Music Happen Campaign

To our Band Parents:


In these unprecedented times, we sincerely hope you and your family are staying well physically and emotionally.

As you know, three large non-profit organizations support River Hill: the PTSA, RHHS Boosters, and the Music Boosters. While the PTSA and RHHS Boosters fund performing and visual arts, sports, extracurricular activities, post prom, parent programs and more, the Music Boosters is the sole sponsor of the music program -- band, orchestra, voice, and guitar.  Its membership is made up of each department’s secondary booster organization.

I am writing to you on behalf of the Band Boosters.  As a band parent, you are a member of our booster organization, and we warmly invite you to attend our monthly meetings, which we announce in our Band Newsletter.

During a normal school year, in my role as President of the Band Boosters, I would strongly encourage parents to join both the PTSA and the River Hill Boosters. I also would request you make a direct donation to the Band Boosters through the Make Music Happen (MMH) Campaign and support our biggest annual fundraiser – a fall pie sale – in addition to restaurant and miscellaneous fundraisers throughout the year.

This year, recognizing the financial difficulties surely facing some families, I humbly ask that only those parents who have the means consider generously funding the MMH campaign. The Band Boosters foresee no other income opportunities this semester and likely next – no pie sales, parking fundraisers at Mary’s Land Farm, concert donations, etc.

While we dramatically have streamlined our expenses, we still have unavoidable financial commitments that, without income, will necessitate draining our minimal savings by approximately $7,000. We estimate these expenses as follows.

If you are able, please consider financially contributing to the Band Boosters, and, regardless, please join us on Google Meets for our monthly meetings, which are generally held at 7:30 PM on the second Tuesday of every month.

Please note, while the MMH Campaign is sponsored by the greater Music Boosters, you decide how you would like to distribute your donation based on your student’s musical interests. For example, if your child is only in Band, you likely will want the full amount deposited in the Band Booster’s account, but if your child is in Choir and Band, you might wish to split your donation.

We have two ways to donate electronically: through the band website at https://rhhsband.wixsite.com/music/mmhor directly through PayPal at rhhs.band.treasurer@gmail.com.  All Music Booster groups share the main PayPal account, so, if using this, please be certain to write “MMH Donation for Band”in the notes section.  If you would like to support the Band and another music group, you might want to use the direct PayPal link and leave clear instructions in the notes section as to how to divide your gift.  Regardless of how you donate, please kindly consider adding 2.5% to your donation to cover the transaction cost. We sincerely appreciate your support.
