It is time!!!!!

Dear RHHS Band Families,

 

Band Camp is here!!!  It was a pleasure to see a few of you in school yesterday and I am so excited about working with all of you starting this week!  I get the feeling that some reminders might be helpful, so here they are…

 

TONIGHT - New marcher rehearsal from 6:30-9:00.  This rehearsal is for students who are marching (in the drill) this year for the first time.  If you are marching this year but were stationary (or not at RHHS) last year, this rehearsal is for you.  Marching Band student leaders will be an important part of this rehearsal, and their first job will be to take attendance for their section at 6:30.  We will not need instruments tonight, but please do wear comfortable clothes and sneakers (no sandals or flip flops), and bring a bottle of cold water.

 

TOMORROW THROUGH AUGUST 29th - Band Camp for EVERYONE!  Music rehearsal will be in the Band Room from 4:30-6:00.  Your music will need to be in plastic page protectors and organized in a 1/2-inch, 3-ring binder labeled with your name and instrument, and you will need a pencil with an eraser.  Stationary members are dismissed at 6:00, when the rest of us eat dinner (bring your own please!).  Marching members will begin visual rehearsal at 6:30.  You will need appropriate marching attire, and a bottle of cold water.  (I like to freeze mine before arriving so it stays cold.)  Dismissal is at 9:00.

 

AUGUST 30th - Everyone (marching and stationary) from 4:30-9:00.  Dinner 6:00-6:30 (please bring your own).  You will need a bottle of cold water.

 

DR. MARTIRANO PERFORMANCE - August 26th, 9:30-11:00.  Casual Band uniform (Band t-shirt and long blue jeans).  

 

BACK-TO-BAND MEETINGS - two choices - Monday, 8/26 from 3:30-4:15 PM and Thursday, 8/29 from 8:30-9:15 PM!  Please come and learn about all of the awesome things that we will be doing this year!

 

DUE DATES - Band Handbook signature page (August 23rd), music memorization form (September 5th), dinner check for game day meals (August 30th).  Boosters are working on setting up a PayPal option for this payment.  Stay tuned.

 

THE REMAINDER OF MARCHING SEASON - Every student will need compression/spandex shorts to wear under his/her Marching Band uniform.  The uniform will be provided by the Band Program, but each student will need to purchase shoes and gloves.  Details coming soon from your Band Boosters.

 

ATHLETICS - Everyathlete should have already communicated directly with me so that we have resolved any conflicts with practices and rehearsals.
