Pep Band Friday night..participants and drivers needed!

Hello River Hill Band Families! We are off to a great start to the school year....and already have an activity coming up this week. This Friday night is the first away football game and the students will be putting together a Pep Band as always to support the team and energize the crowd. There is a sign up sheet in the band room and we encourage any student who is interested to come out and participate. Report time is 5:15pm in the band room for a rehearsal of the music, handing out of the pep band shirts and then we'll load cars and head out for Wilde Lake HS. We will also need drivers to transport both students and instruments. Please let me know if you'll be able to help out this w

RHHS Make Music Happen!

DEAR RHHS BAND FAMILY: Welcome to the River Hill Band Program! The RHHS Band Boosters organization provides support primarily for band activities and ensembles. This is accomplished through volunteering, coordinating activities and events, and ongoing fundraising. The Band Booster budget is allocated to the director to be used towards the purchase of new or replacement equipment, instruments and music; stipends for guest artists and master classes; and items that are not provided by the County. We are committed to providing the necessary resources so that we can continue to provide an outstanding musical experience. The Make Music Happen donor campaign is our primary means for raising funds

Thank you for a great first rehearsal

Dear RHHS Band Families, I want to thank you all for a great set of "first rehearsals" last week. I was blown away by how great everyone sounded, and a good time was had by all! Special thanks go to students who attended more than one rehearsal, and to those who helped out with check-in, music, and welcoming new kids. Here are some reminders that might be helpful to you: If you need an FNL shirt, then your t-shirt size should already have been sent to Mrs. Swanner at rhbandbooster@gmail.com. Please be sure that you have done this. Every student needs to sign up for games and meals. If you have not taken care of that yet, PLEASE do it today. It is very important that the Boosters and I k

FNL Student Sign-Ups!

It is time to select your performance dates for the Friday Night Live (“FNL”) Ensemble! The requirement for ALL Band students is to participate in at least four (Homecoming on 10/7, plus three additional) of our five home football games. PLEASE consider playing all five performances. This is going to be FUN, and we are stronger with YOU there! Choose the slots for the performances you will be attending. Also, we need to plan for dinners. All students need to eat, but they will not be permitted to leave school grounds for any reason. So that leaves them with three options: bring dinner to school at 7:15 in the morning, have dinner delivered to them by their parents at 5:15 PM, or my fav

Final Band Information

Dear RHHS Band Families! Well, better late than never. Here is the final information that you need before we see each other this week. I am so excited to get started, and there are just a few more things for each of you to do in order to be prepared: Assemble your Friday Night Live folder This is simply a thin (1/2-inch) 3-ring binder with 15 plastic page protectors. Please place your FNL music in the page protectors, and make sure the binder is clearly labelled with your name. Let me know which of the three rehearsals you will attend next week. You can do this by going to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScyHac8a2K2Xtx5CV5HNL87zo0_Yqel3FPydTDsGEvf3Jp0Lw/viewform. You may have

Tux Jacket Exchange

This is a message for returning boys who have outgrown their tux jackets and are looking to trade up for a larger size. Please take a minute this week to try on your jacket from last year (before we give incoming Freshman dibs on the remaining concert attire). I am going to be available to help with anyone who needs to try on a new size before and after the FNL rehearsal on Thursday 8/25 (before 7pm and after 9pm) and after the Friday 8/26 rehearsal at 6pm. If you would like to trade in your jacket, please let me know which day you would like to come and please bring your old jacket back in CLEAN! Thanks! Esther Evans esther_evans@hotmail.com

Attention Band Students!

Dear River Hill Band Students, I am writing to you from beautiful Deep Creek Lake in (far) Western Maryland! I am enjoying the beautiful mountains and water, but am also thinking about you all and what an exciting year we have ahead of us. I have no doubt that you are busy with many summer activities, but I need for you to spend a little time making sure that you are ready to get to work in a couple of weeks. By now you should have: Copied ALL of our rehearsals and performances onto your family calendar. There are two minor corrections for you: the optional Pep Band performance on 10/22 is at 1:00 (not 7:00), and the one on 10/29 is at noon (not 7:00). Thanks for making those changes if
